August heat continues

It’s been very hot, and you may see sulphurs as hatches are starting as early as 10 a.m. I like to use sun protection and drink plenty of water. Seeing good numbers of 18 and 20 spinners at night, both rusty and pale. Expect fog in the evening with the hot temps and cooler waters of the West Branch.

What our guests are seeing:

Not much changing yet; more BWO and caddis. Sulphurs are hatching starting in late morning and continuing throughout the day with heavy hatches and spinner falls occurring after 6:00 p.m. Sizes are 18 and 20, colors are very pale yellow, orangey yellow, and yellow, all having wings that appear strong cream (not white) when floating. Have emergers and spinners in your box.

BWO-Size 18-20-dark wings

BWO-Size 22-26-medium grey wings. Try these when you can’t see what the fish are rising to.

Also have a few of these in your box:

ISO-Size 12

Tan Caddis-Size 16-18

Beetles-Size 14-16

Big Black Ants-Size 16-18
